Vienna lies in the country\u2019s east on the Danube River. Its artistic and intellectual legacy was shaped by residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud.<\/span><\/p>\n If you sit on the nearby Kahlenberg mountain and look down on Vienna, you will see what a fascinating collage this city is. There are green, rolling vineyards, and then there are the magnificent, imperial buildings Vienna is known for. After all, Vienna is a city where world history was written for half a millennium. Art history, as well.<\/span><\/p>\n On a trip along the Ringstrasse, you pass the\u00a0Vienna State Opera<\/a>, the\u00a0Museum of Art History<\/a>\u00a0and its counterpart, the\u00a0Museum of Natural History<\/a>, the\u00a0Parliament<\/a>, the\u00a0Burgtheater<\/a>, and the\u00a0City Hall<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n In the heart of the city, the Gothic\u00a0St. Stephen\u2019s Cathedral<\/a>\u00a0casts its shadows through narrow cobblestone streets. The palaces and parks of the Habsburg era \u2013\u00a0Sch\u00f6nbrunn Palace<\/a>\u00a0with the Gloriette and the zoo,\u00a0Belvedere Palace<\/a>, and the\u00a0Hofburg<\/a>\u00a0palace \u2013 give the city an imperial air, enriched by beautiful buildings from the Art Nouveau period.<\/span><\/p>\n
